We have always known that Maggie enjoys hair bows, jewelry, and being a 'girly girl.' She has noticed her sisters changing out their earrings, and every time she sees them with their earrings, she makes sure I know she wants some too. This seemed like a good time, so after the girls shots, we went to the mall to get Maggie's ears pierced. She got in the chair and was so happy. Mom tried to explain that it would hurt, but she didn't care. We let her pick out the earrings she wanted, and without hesitation, she chose earrings just like Halli's and Natalie's. I gave her another opportunity to back out, but no way! This girl wanted earrings! We got the first one done with no tears. The second one was completed with no tears, but after it was over? I'll let the photos tell that story....

Maggie spent the rest of the day excitedly pointing to her ears and making sure everyone knew she had earrings! Too fun!!
Since our first trip to China, our family has opted out of Halloween. The trip changed us and some of our views on what we consider to be innocent fun. I won't get on a soapbox. We don't mind anyone else doing the whole halloween thing, it just isn't something we choose to do. I always explain to the girls that mommy and daddy don't like halloween. We tell them why, and then we make sure we do something fun as a family together during this season. We aren't punishing the girls, and we don't ever want them to feel as if we are. This year, part of our family fun was taking the girls to the candy store to choose any candy they wanted up to a certain $$ amount. We spent so much time in there! The girls went from one candy bin to another, thinking, figuring how much one would cost as opposed to another, and making their important candy decisions. In the end, they wound up with a little less candy than I thought they'd have, but they all chose a candy-filled motorized fan ---and told me they wished they would have had them while we were in China in July... I've heard the saying "like a kid in a candy store." They were the kids in the candy store!!! They had so much fun! And they are all 3 carrying around 'their' bag of candy. Interestingly enough, the only chocolate they chose was their M & M filled fans, and they chose that for the fan rather than the candy. Judging by the size of their individual bags of candy, I don't think they are going to run out of candy any time soon...

The little girls found a silly kiddy ride in the mall. Halli told me she would ride it if I needed her to hold Maggie. When I told her Maggie could ride all by herself, Halli breathed a sigh of relief and cheered her sisters on from the sidelines. Where, oh where, has my little girl gone? Halli is growing up much too quickly....

More to come, but for now, this mommy has got to get to work!
